Tuesday 7 May

  • EU Council. Foreign Affairs Council (Brussels). *Development: - Ukraine : exchange of views on the situation in Ukraine and on support for the ‘Plan for Ukraine’ presented by the government on 20 March in order to unblock payments under the first pillar of the Ukraine Facility for the period 2024-2027. - Palestine: debate on the humanitarian and reconstruction aspects on the basis of the report by the independent review group on UNRWA; developments in the situation on the ground; support for the Palestinian Authority’s reform programme. - EU involvement in crisis situations: commitment of Team Europe in crisis or politically distant contexts (partnerships, instruments, strategies); role of the Global Gateway strategy in this context. - Current affairs: preparations for the ‘Summit of the Future’ a high-level event which will take place this year on 22-23/09 in the margins of the UNGA High-Level Week, with a particular focus on the financial aspects. - Any other business: state of global health (Presidency); implementation of the Global Gateway strategy (Finland and Estonia); mid-term evaluation of NDICI-Europe in the world and programming; approval of conclusions on: - the European Court of Auditors’ report on the Global Climate Change Alliance; - the 2023 annual report on the implementation of the EU’s external financing instruments in 2022; - Small Island Developing States (SIDS); - protection in humanitarian contexts.
  • EU Council. ‘Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs’ Council (Brussels). - Women in public life: policy debate on the issue of gender equality in positions of responsibility and decision-making. - Women’s economic empowerment: Approval of the conclusions entitled ‘Women’s economic empowerment and financial independence: towards real equality between women and men’ (equal pay, harassment at work and violence, financial independence). - Equal treatment: progress on the proposal for a directive on equal treatment (equal treatment for all persons). - Any other business: EU accession to the Istanbul Convention; state of play of the Violence Against Women Survey; change in the title of the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council configuration.
